Guaranteed data durability

An ACID-based approach in which any data changes are first written to a log on disk and replicated to multiple servers. If any component fails, the data is automatically restored from existing replicas. All operations on the cluster topology and data schema are also atomic.

Horizontal scaling

Data is partitioned into independent fragments (shards) according to the number of available CPU cores. This approach reduces the overhead of shared data access, improves hardware utilization, and allows the system’s compute capacity to be scaled up at any time.

Executing business logic within the data grid

At Picodata, a way has been found to scale not only data but also computation. The system stores and versions application code on every cluster node. A range of techniques has been developed to safely update distributed applications while preserving data integrity and avoiding system downtime. All of this delivers uncompromising performance for data operations.

Open‑source product

The product is based on open‑source technology, which lowers the barrier to entry and makes the solution accessible to a broad audience.

Fully Russian software

The Picodata DBMS has been developed by Russian engineers and is listed in the Register of Domestic Software. All support and implementation expertise are available in Russia and in Russian.
